NeetZen is a study app for students preparing for NEET (UG). This policy explains what we collect, why, who else sees it, and how you can get rid of it. It describes what the app actually does — not what it might do one day.
The short version. You can use NeetZen without giving us your email or phone number. We store what you study and how you answer questions, because that is how the app knows what to help you with. Text, study photos and voice recordings you choose to send to Zen are processed by OpenAI to answer that request. We do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising.
NeetZen is operated from India. For any privacy question or request, contact privacy@neetzen.com.
When you first open NeetZen an anonymous account and a random user ID are created automatically. The sign-in credential is stored on your device; the account and its study data are stored by Supabase under that ID. You may later add an email address and password so your progress can be restored — that is optional. Without an email address, we normally have no reliable way to match that random ID to you after you lose access to the device.
| What you tell us during onboarding | The name you choose to be called, whether you are in Class 11, Class 12 or a repeat year, your target NEET year, your preferred language, and how you are preparing (coaching, self-study or online). The name can be anything — it does not have to be your real one. |
|---|---|
| What you do in the app | Which chapters and topics you open, how far you got, which questions you answered, which option you chose, whether it was right, your test scores and timings, and which topics are due for revision. |
| Your conversations, notes and check-ins | Messages you send and replies you receive are saved so you can return to them. Notes, check-ins and notes generated from a scan are also saved. A photo attached to chat or scan is transmitted for that request, but NeetZen does not intentionally retain the original photo on its servers. |
| Voice questions | If you use the microphone, the recording is sent to OpenAI for transcription. NeetZen saves the resulting text only if it becomes a chat message; it does not intentionally retain the original recording on its servers. |
| Account details, only if you add them | Your email address and a password credential managed by Supabase Auth, used to protect and restore your progress. NeetZen cannot read your plaintext password. |
| Service and AI usage records | Daily request counts and, for AI calls, the function, model, token counts and estimated cost associated with your random user ID. We use these to enforce limits and operate the service. A failed CBT start also writes a small diagnostic to that browser's local storage; it contains a stage, error code, message, paper number and time, but no answers or typed content, and is not uploaded by that diagnostic feature. |
| Your profile picture, if you set one | Stored on your device only. It is not uploaded to our servers. |
We do not collect your location, contacts, browsing history outside the app, or advertising identifiers. We do not use tracking cookies. The app contains no advertising.
We do not profile you for advertising, and we do not make automated decisions that carry legal consequences.
| Supabase | Hosts our database and authentication. Your account and study data are stored there. |
|---|---|
| OpenAI | Processes the message text, study photos and voice recordings you choose to send in order to generate an explanation, notes or transcription. Do not send content containing information you would not want processed by a service provider. |
| Resend | Sends a CBT result email when a submitted web-CBT account has an email address. Resend receives that address plus the paper number, marks, correct, wrong, skipped and scheduled-revision counts needed for the message. The current shared sender can deliver only to the Resend account owner's address until NeetZen configures a verified sending domain. |
| Expo | Provides the build tooling used to produce the Android app. This build does not use Expo Updates to deliver over-the-air app updates. |
| Google Play | Distributes and updates the Android app after the founder publishes a release through Google Play. |
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Study progress, answer history, saved messages, saved notes and associated service records are kept while your account exists, because their value is in the long run — a chapter you struggled with in August still matters in April. When we complete a verified account-deletion request, we delete the account data described on the deletion page.
Anonymous accounts live on your device. If you uninstall the app or reset your device without adding an email address, that account and its data become permanently unreachable — by you and by us.
Write to privacy@neetzen.com for any of these.
Many NEET aspirants are under 18. If you are, please use NeetZen with a parent or guardian's knowledge and permission. If you are a parent or guardian and want your child's data removed, write to privacy@neetzen.com and we will delete it.
We ask for as little as possible: no phone number, no address, no school, no photograph requirement, and no real name.
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and access is restricted so that one student's data cannot be read by another. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise; if a breach affects you, we will tell you.
If we change what we collect or who processes it, we will update this page and change the date at the top. We will not claim an in-app notification method unless one is actually available in that build.
